Who watches the deathwatch?

The urge to paint something suddenly struck! I looked around on my desk and my eyes fell on the truescale deathwatch marine I converted a while ago and has been standing there since then, undercoated and unloved.

Say hello to Brother Sirius of the Deatchwatch. He supposedly belongs to a secretive dark angel successor chapter with stronger than usual ties to the Ordo Xenos.

The greenstuff work on his legs is admittedly complete crap - sculpting flat armour surfaces are just not my thing - but I tried to cover that up (he might receive a cosmetic purity seal or two as well...)

  1. Love Deathwatch models, this one is ace.

    Where are those legs from?

  2. Wonderful work, the chapter symbol pad really stands out to me. And as usual the skin-work is stunning.

So many really well made true-scale marine miniatures out there now, yours rank as some of my favourites.

Is this mainly terminator parts, with a power armoured back pack?

  3. Thank you very much!

You have a write up on the parts used in the WIP post: http://convertorum.blogspot.se/2014/02/further-experiments-in-truescaling.html

    1. Thanks I missed that one, I was away from the internet spending more time with family recently.

    1. It's a lot bumpier than it looks... But black fortunately is slimming.

  5. Awesome work, Jeff! If anything, those supposed imperfections you mentioned (not that I can even spot them) only add to the character of the model.
The paint job is just beautiful :)

    1. Thanks mate! As you say I tried to work with the imperfections - just wish I could pull off a more smooth finish that seems like a walk in the park for some talented individuals...

    2. I find when I'm working with greenstuff, even with silicone/rubber tipped clay shaping tools. That just a light touch (very miniscule) amount of vaseline petroleum jelly, it breaks the surface friction enough to get really smooth surfaces.

I do have to clean it when fully cured to make sure it doesn't cause any problem with paint adhering, but I just use an old brush and a little water to wipe it clean.

  7. Awesome...simply Awesome. As a Dark Angels fanatic, May I suggest a name for the successor chapter? The Swords of Caliban. :)
